Hosta Gemstone Eucomis pendant clusters of flowersThis 1998 cross of Hosta venusta x Hosta 'Dorset Blue' resulted in one of our all time favorite Plant Delights introductions that we christened Hosta 'Gemstone'. Hosta 'Gemstone' makes a vigorous growing but small, 5" tall x 1' wide clump of narrow Hosta venusta like, blue leaves. In midsummer, the clumps are topped with short 10" spikes of lavender flowers a hummingbird delight. If you like small valuable hostas, add a 'Gemstone' to your garden.
