Philip Ross Munro Encaustic Dancers Painting Size:20 x 16 Directed/Starring: Paul HardingThis piece by American artist Philip Ross Munro was done using encaustic painting, a technique where colored pigments are added to a hot wax medium and then applied to a surface such as prepared wood. The paint's consistency can be changed by adding resin or oil, but the technique itself is considered to be quite difficult, thus highlighting the skill needed to accomplish such a feat. Munro's use of the wax is evident through the wavy, blurred nature
