The sett has its source in the MacKenzie tartan used in 1777 by John MacKenzie called Lord MacLeod when he raised a regiment called 'Lord MacLeod's Highlanders'

MATHESON RED (ANCIENT) Choose:By the metre Please contact our Customer ServiceThe Mathesons were involved with other clans who settled in Lochalsh, and in particular with the MacDonells of Glengarry and the MacKenzies of Kintail. The tartan has a design structure which relates to the Glengarry which dates at least to c. 1816 when a sample was certified by the chief. Note: This cloth is on a weaving schedule due to be completed beginning of February 2024.
