Agave gypsophila ssp pablocarrilloi Sisyrinchium Our first plants of Helleborus

Our first plants of Helleborus foetidus were a wonderful form from the late Rachel Dunham of Cary

The lower foliage may brown out by summer's end

yellow swallowtail butterflies and iridescent hummingbirds are a nice touch

This is a stoloniferous species that will make a nice clump after a few seasons

I can think of no better way to start

The grey blue heavily ripped leaves and small closely set teeth make this stunning 2' tall x 3' wide conversation piece look more like a cross of an agave and a bromeliad. Hailing from calcarous soils including pure gypsum in southern Mexico, A. gypsophila ssp. pablocarrilloi is easy to grow, but is best treated as a tropical houseplant in cold
