In early May (NC)
The tidy gardener might want to cut the stems to the ground at this point
easy-to-grow
Unlike many of its more common and gaudy cousins
Hosta Mac the Knife Saruma kikutii x HThis small Jim Dishon hybrid (H. 'Galaxy' x H. 'Hadspen Heron') makes a slow growing but delightful 15" wide clump of dark green heart shaped leaves, each with an unusual rippled orange gold margin. The margins change to a creamy yellow as the season progresses. The clumps are topped with 13" scapes of light lavender flowers in early summer.
